So, a solid favor is asked just this one time - please sign up again. And one day when we win that award, you'll be singled out personally, thanked, and kissed by The Gorn. BEACH RENOURISHMENT UNDERWAY No, no, a thousand times, no - those pipes on the beach are NOT an oil boom; they're pipes for pumping sand. Pinellas County and the US Army Corps of Engineers are renourishing Sushine Beach this month and Sunset Beach in early September. New sand goes from the John's Pass Jetty to 120th Avenue and from 88th to 77th Avenue. Click here for a summary of the project and here for the beach renourishment project website.
SEE THE FUTURE. BE THE FUTURE. Answer a few questions in the online survey developed by the Vision Steering Committee to help shape the kind of Treasure Island neighborhoods and businesses you'd like to see. The survey takes only a few minutes and we thank you for your participation.
BEACH TRAIL CONCEPT REVIEWED
At their August meeting, The Treasure Island Beach Stewardship Committee reviewed a concept for upgrading the TI Beach Trail. The designs and amenities reviewed were sent to the City Commission for further study. See the plans and numbers here.
LIGHTS OUT FOR SEA TURTLES
It's Loggerhead turtle nesting season, now through October, on the barrier islands. Several nests are on Sunset Beach right now; look for the distinctive yellow sign marking each nest, put up by the turtle nest monitors from the Clearewater Marine Aquarium. Should you spot a nesting turtle, call 727-441-1790, ext. 234.
